The new house

February 23, 2009

So far so good, Dubai is great. After the first 3 days we moved into the new house. I was expecting a tiny English style matchbox house and I was very happy to discover it’s actually a reasonable liveable size little villa. The ground floor has a nice, not very big living room, a good size kitchen but not much work space, an office room, an under the stairs cupboard, a little hallway with room for the washing machine and a toilet. At the first floor we have tow bedroom, each with a bathroom and cupboards. The bedrooms are a good size, but the bathrooms are pathetically small. Really, they should have taken a bit more room and made some proper bathrooms. The only good size bathroom is the one downstairs but there is no shower there. Except the bum shower which is in all toilets around here. It’s not as nice as professional as the Japanese ones though.

The garden is really nice, not too big not too small. The bad part is that the main bedroom and the garden are towards the main street. It’s reasonably quiet during the day when you get a car every 5-6 seconds but it’s really terrible at peak hours when it gets so noisy that sitting in the garden is no longer pleasurable. It is the only aspect of life in Dubai so far that i dislike. Actually, dislike it not enough! I really really hate it!
